These are some pictures of Kyle and I two years ago. We still love each other a lot and keep learning how to love each other better. The only thing that's changed is that we've both gained a lot of weight . . . except you can only tell that I have!Kyle and I officially celebrated our 2 year anniversary yesterday, but we were really celebrating all weekend long!
Friday
Friday night we went to Dromo 1 and raced go karts! (Can you tell Kyle was in charge of the planning?) Actually it was a lot of fun, and it was quite the adrenaline rush. I felt like I was about to go on a scary ride for the first time, except I realized that I was in control of my destiny, which seemed to make it even scarier! I was racing against a bunch of guys, so of course I didn't finish with the fastest time, but boy did I make that jumpsuit look good! Well, that's what I pretended anyway. The hardest part was that we left Kelsey for the first time. I honestly just had to block it out of my mind so that I wouldn't get too worried. I knew she was in good hands (thanks again Michael and Chelsea), but don't all mothers worry a little bit when they leave their children? We called after we were finished racing, and Kelsey was still being a champ, so we decided to go get some frozen yogurt too. It was a really fun date night for us, and I must say it was nice not having to carry a diaper bag aroud the whole time!
Here I am almost ready to go! I still had to put on a face sock, neck brace, gloves, and my helmet.
Here we are after the race in the "Winner's Circle." I'm glad they even let the losers take pictures here!
Saturday
We drove down to San Diego to go the zoo. Kyle hadn't been since he was little, and I have never been before, so we decided it would be a fun getaway! The main perk was that Kyle's friend had two passes for us to get in free! (Thanks Kevin and Jennifer!) We had SO much fun. Kelsey absolutely loved it too! Her favorite animals were the orangutans, pink flamingos, and polar bears. We also got to see zebras, bears, elephants, giraffes, camels, panda bears, koala bears, and we got up close and personal with a peacock that just roams around. One of my favorite things to see was the rhinoceros who had this big ball that he was rolling around and playing with. There was also this one black bear who just walked around in circles. It was really cracking me up. We got lots of exercise because that zoo has lots of big hills. I started laughing when we got to one part where you had to choose between "Steep Path" or "Very Steep Path." This was a really fun way to celebrate our anniversary with Kelsey. She was such a good girl all day that we bought her a cute polar bear stuffed animal. The only bad thing about the day was that Kyle lost his sunglasses!

Candid shot of Kyle and Kelsey watching the flamingos. Probably my favorite picture of the day.

Monday
Now onto Monday, which was actually our anniversary. Since we had already done lots of fun things, we were just going to celebrate by going out to dinner and exchanging gifts. We left Kelsey with Grandma so we could have a more romantic time. We went to dinner at Zov's Cafe.
Funny side story: Kyle looked this place up online after hearing good reviews from some coworkers and found a good sampler deal where you got an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $22. (He liked that because we were married on the 22nd.) Anyway, ther are actually two sides to the restaurant. One side is the Bistro, which is fancier, and then there is the Cafe/Bakery on the other side (but they still have a nice menu.) So, we pulled up to the restaurant and walked to an outdoor patio part and were seated. We assumed this was the correct place until they started asking us what wines or cocktails we wanted and then looked at the menu prices where an entree alone was $32. I politely inquired about the deal we had seen online, and she said that was only at the Cafe. Kyle said we would need some more time to look at the menu. We quickly decided we should go to the Cafe part instead, so I told the hostess we actually meant to go to the Cafe, and she gave us the directions around the corner. We felt a little silly, but we just got up and left.
Okay, back to the dinner. Oh my gosh, it was so amazing! We still sat outside on the patio and it felt so romantic. There was one family on the other side, but we basically had the whole place to ourselves! I felt like I was in Europe or something. The food was delicious. Kyle ordered a feta salad and I ordered hummus for the appetizer. Then we both ordered the parmesan crusted chicken breast with green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. And you get the same dessert, which is a trio of "shooters" including chocolate mousse, lemon tart, and a mixed berry. What made the dessert even cooler is that our waitress realized it was our anniversary because she saw our cards on the table, and so she added a little piece of chocolate that read "Happy Anniversary" on the dessert. It was so fun to talk about memories of our wedding day and just how far we have come. We also exchanged gifts during dinner, which was of course very exciting. I got Kyle some socks (to stick with the traditional theme of cotton for your second anniversary), but his main gift was a digital picture frame to have at work. And Kyle got me a new point and shoot camera. Our previous camera is almost 5 years old, and it went swimming in Utah Lake, so it has not been taking very good pictures. I was so shocked and excited when I opened it up! He had it wrapped in computer paper (yes, Kyle usually wraps things in newspaper, but they didn't have any at work for him to use), and I seriously had no clue what it was. I thought it was going to be a book or something. And the best part was, I was actually surprised. Usually I kind of have an idea of what I am getting, but I really had no idea! After dinner, we drove to the Newport Beach temple where we were married! Then we came home and watched our wedding video. Kyle was so entranced in watching it that it actually put him to sleep! (He was actually really tired because he had to be at work extra early.)
Here's the romantic and nearly isolated patio where we ate.
Here's me holding the yummy desserts. Do you see the cute little piece of chocolate the waitress brought out? We felt so special!
Happy Two Year Anniversary!

Me trying to look cute. I do have to say I was proud of myself for being able to SQUEEEEZE into a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans for the evening.
Anyway, we had LOTS of fun celebrating our anniversary and remembering why we love each other so much!

Very nice report and write up! That's funny about the Bistro side. I could totally see Kyle like faking that you guys meant to eat there or somethin. "Oh, we'll keep on looking at the menu." ha ha
Yeah, I wish you could have been there cuz you would have been cracking up! Of course I had to be the one to embarrass myself and ask the hostess where the cafe side was! I just acted confident!
