Kyle and I had a really fun Valentine's Day this year. We met up for dinner on Friday night at P.F. Changs in Fashion Island. (Which happens to be the first place we went out to dinner as a married couple.) Considering it was Friday the 13th, we had a little bit of bad luck. It had been pouring rain, so my hair was an absolute disaster and my pants were wet from walking through puddles. And, to top it all off, I parked in the wrong parking lot, so I ended up having to walk a long ways to get to the restaurant, which meant that my back was hurting because I was carrying Kelsey and a heavy diaper bag for a long time up and down stairs, etc.
Luckily, I have an amazing husband, and he greeted me at the table with a beautiful bouquet of flowers! The restaurant wasn't too crowded when we first got there because we were there early, but the crowds quickly started to be a little overwhelming. We were also seated at the table farthest away from the restroom and the door, but closest to the kitchen, which made things a little inconvenient with a baby. Kelsey was doing really well until it started to get pretty noisy. I stood up with her, but she still wasn't calming down. She was just crying a little bit, so I figured I would walk outside with her where it wasn't noisy. Well, my plan would have worked fine, except on the way out the door a careless waitress bumped into Kelsey and hit her in the back with all her force with a big tray! Kelsey started screaming! The waitress just said an unconvincing "sorry" and ran on her way. Well, we eventually made it outside, and Kelsey was fine again. We believe she was just a little more on edge because she is getting two more top teeth in. She is trying to grow up way too fast! All in all, things were a little crazy, but we still enjoyed a delicious four course meal.
Saturday started out early with Kyle going to play basketball, and Kelsey and I went to watch Talon so Michael could go play too. Talon was my valentine last year as well because Kyle was out of town on a work convention, and I babysat Talon while Michael and Chelsea went out to celebrate. Anyway, here is a cute little video I took of Talon being a good big cousin to "Baby Sassy." We also had lots of fun playing "We're following the leader . . . " You know, like when you march around and sing the song like in "Peter Pan."
After basketball, we came home and made a big breakfast and opened some presents. Kyle made me some chocolate covered strawberries with crumbled oreos and sprinkles on top along with a chocolate covered pretzel and rice krispie treat! Yummo!
He also got me a pink case for my phone, and wrote me a sweet love note. He is such a sweetheart! I got Kyle a wooden photo cube with our names engraved on it. It will be something nice, but not too flashy to put on his desk at work. Kelsey got showered with presents too! She got some adorable dresses, a heart hoodie, a blanket, and a Build-a-Bear.
I think we're loved!

Saturday afternoon, we made a pit stop at Hudson's house because he turned 1 year old! Kelsey and Hudson play together all the time and have so much fun being kids! Kelsey got him a cute shirt from H&M and a $1 bill! We then made a trip to Costco and Target to get groceries for the dinner we were going to make. We intended to get some sparkling cider for the occasion, but we couldn't find any at Target. At first I was a little sad, but then it turned out to be an excellent misfortune. We found some flavored sparkling water that was less expensive and still delicious! (And without any calories too!)
We made some yummy spaghetti for dinner, and the table was decorated with the beautiful flowers and some red candles. We also had love songs playing in the background. And Kelsey was just chillin in her high chair eating puffs! Maybe it wasn't the most romantic dinner you could imagine, but it was absolutely perfect! After we finished eating, Kyle moved the table and we danced to "I Can't Fight this Feeling Anymore" which was our First Dance song. Kelsey started to get a little jealous, so she joined in to! It was so much fun. Kyle spinned us around and even dipped us at the end. What a fun day!

I know some people find Valentine's Day preposterous because they think it is so commercialized and find it ridiculous that people would buy into the "Hallmarkness" of it all. I too am a believer that we should show each other love every day of our lives, but I think it is perfectly okay to have a day where we go above and beyond for the ones we love because it brings us closer together!
