Megan's Hourly Update

11:10am
Doctor came in and explained the situation. We decided to have a C-section. It’s scheduled at 11:30.

10:47am
Feeling pain. No improvement with dilation. A different nurse came in and realized Megan’s cuff was too small causing higher blood pressure. With the new cuff her bp was 123/83.

9:50am
Dilated to a 7!

9:10am
Kyle gave Megan a blessing.

8:47am
Dilated to a 6.

(Kyle is very hungry and wondering why this labor takes so long) 8:10am Oxytocin level increased from 3 to 5

7:40am Oxytocin level was increased from 1 to 3.

7:15am Another bottle was needed to replace the 1st bottle of epidural.

6:30am Oxytocin given to induce labor and internal monitor attached to better track contractions

(Kyle takes a 1 1/2 hr nap)

4:30am Dilated to almost a 5. Hearbeat maintains a constant 147 bpm.

4:00am Doctor broke Megan's water and began to monitor baby's heart rate internally. The liquid was clear.

3:30am Dilated to a 4 and completely effaced. Sac was lowering and Megan was progressing.

(Kyle eats a footlong corndog and takes a 1 hr nap)

1:45am Contractions every 2 minutes apart lasting 60-70 seconds

1:23am Catheter installed and Megan was dilated to 3 and baby's head began to descend.

MONDAY
12am The epidural finally arrived and put Megan out of her pain. Doctor nicked some nerve three times causing Megan's right leg to jump. She said it felt like a spark moved through her entire leg.

9:45pm On the fourth attempt and second nurse, a vein was eventually hit and they began giving her pain relief and hooked her up to an IV. Megan started to shake and barf with more intense contractions.

8pm Extremely painful contractions every 2 minutes.

(Kyle went to cafe after fasting "forever" to eat a double cheeseburger and nachos)

7pm Contractions every 4 minutes

6:25pm Monitors showed signs of progress and we were asked to stay the night at the hospital.

5:40pm Administered prostaglandin gel.

5:30pm Megan was dilated to a 1 and a wiggle and 70% effaced.

SUNDAY
4:00pm Checked into hospital to receive prostaglandin gel.
