Baby Update

Did anyone else notice the baby counter started counting back up? That was depressing, so we got rid of it! Well, I officially had my last doctor's appointment yesterday! (That's the good news.) The doctor asked me if I wanted him to strip my membranes, but I told him I would decide after he had checked me because I was hoping I would have some progress. Well, I was still 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated. He told me I have a much stronger cervix than the average woman. He basically gave me the strongest cervix award. I tried to take that as a compliment because he said some women can't hold their babies in past 36 weeks and have to be sewn up, but it was still a little frustrating because my body is just not naturally progressing. So, I decided to have him strip my membranes, but I made Kyle come over so I could squeeze his hand. The doctor told me if I started cussing he would stop. So, he begins the process, and I am squeezing Kyle's hand and making very uncomfortable faces and noises. The doctor pulled out, and I was worried that I hadn't experienced the worst and he would have to start over. I gave him a look of "do you really have to do that again?" but to my surprise he said, "That was it!" It was definitely not as bad as I was expecting.

Now to the POA (Plan of Action): If I do not go into labor on my own (which is not looking promising at this point), I will go to the hospital on Sunday to have prostaglandins put on to help soften my cervix. I will go back 6 hours later and have the procedure done again, and then I will go in early Monday morning to be induced. So, whether our baby and my body like it or not, this baby is coming out of me by Monday. It's a little disappointing because my mom is supposed to leave early Tuesday, but we are just excited to finally have a plan! I was so sick of hearing "come back in 4-5 days, and we'll check you again." This was the first time in my last 4 appointments that I didn't cry after it because I know I don't ever have to go back. We will definitely keep you posted, so keep looking over the next week for the most adorable baby pictures you've ever seen! (Yes, we will be a little bias!)

I am so glad you guys have a plan, but so sad that it's still so far away! Congratulations on the cervix award, though--that's pretty neat! :) I just realized that your baby might have a June birthday! That's something I bet you guys never thought would happen! I'm so glad your mom is here to hang out with, and I hope the baby comes a little sooner so that she can at least spend a little time with you and her! Please let us know what we can do to help with the packing! GOOD LUCK!
